A former high school teacher, Dr. Douglass joined the residency program faculty in 1995. He holds appointments as Associate Professor at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and as Associate Clinical Professor at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Douglass’ special interests include clinical teaching, oral health, hospice and palliative medicine, and pain management. He has authored over 30 publications in these areas. He has won research prizes from the American Academy of Family Physicians and American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Innovative Program Award and New Faculty Award from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine and several teaching awards. He is active in national academic leadership as past President of the Family Medicine Education Consortium and Chairman of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Group on Oral Health. At Middlesex Hospital he serves as Chairman of the Health Information Management Committee. Dr. Douglass leads the Academic and Leadership Track.
